Identity Theft Protection - Yes or No?

Who has thought about it? What might be some pros and cons of it?

Myself, I have seriously thought about it. In fact, the threat has already been real to some extent as people have impersonated my auto insurance company demanding money. This happened last year, but I didn't fall for it, though I almost did.

You see, in today's age, with AI and the ability to create deepfakes and mimic others' voices, this is creating a real concern for additional fraudulent activity. It's almost irresponsible not to have protection and liability for ID theft.

Well, it would be good if there were options for protection. It seems like one company dominates it all. Am I wrong on this? Well, it's the one that's advertised on TV all the time.

Well, identity theft does not bother me at all. I am nobody, I don't have a lot of money, and I don't think anyone will benefit by stealing my identity.

I've thought about it for sure especially with all these data breaches happening everywhere. Good thing is it gives you peace of mind and helps clean up messes if stuff goes wrong. Bad thing is it costs money every month and doesn't really prevent much.. just tells you after someone already messed with your info.

There are a lot of phone checks these days. I wonder how much they prevent fraud. I'd say a lot has been reduced.

Personally, I see identity theft protection as a safety net. It cannot do so much to prevent it totally but can help you with the cleanup much faster once it has happened. Personally, I would rather focus on being safe with my information.
