Hey everyone,
Did you see the recent report about an Iranian hacker group posing as recruiters on LinkedIn? They targeted telecom workers across the Middle East and Asia with fake job offers, then slipped malware onto victims’ devices. Researchers say the group – tracked as UNC1549 – infected at least 34 devices at 11 telecom companies. Once they gained access, they deployed a backdoor called MINIBIKE to exfiltrate data. The hackers were active in Pakistan, Turkey, the UAE and other countries.
This just goes to show how convincing some of these social engineering attacks can be. Have you ever received a job offer on LinkedIn that seemed suspicious? Do you have any tips for verifying recruiter profiles before responding?
